Everything You Need to Know About Tandem Ear Piercings
Simultaneous Ear Piercings Using our Hand Pressurized Device
At Rowan, we believe ear piercing should be thoughtful, joyful, and done with expert care. For some customers, that means choosing a tandem ear piercing - an experience where both ears are pierced at the same time, rather than one after the other. This unique service offers efficiency and consistency while maintaining the highest safety standards Rowan is known for.
What Is a Tandem Piercing?
A tandem piercing means that both earlobes are pierced simultaneously by two piercing nurses using our hand-pressurized device. This coordinated technique minimizes overall time and creates a balanced experience from ear to ear. It’s a service designed for comfort and confidence.
Tandem piercings are offered only on the earlobe. The earlobe is the soft, fleshy lower part of the ear with rich blood flow, which helps it heal more quickly compared to the firmer cartilage higher on the ear. Cartilage has different anatomy and healing expectations and is offered through other individualized services rather than as part of a tandem piercing experience.
What Is Rowan’s Hand-Pressurized Piercing Device?
Rowan uses a hand-pressurized piercing device that is completely controlled by the piercing nurse’s hand to guide, position, and perform the piercing safely. This device is not a piercing gun - it doesn’t use a spring-loaded mechanism and is far more gentle and precise than traditional gun-style tools.
Our hand-pressurized device is ideal for earlobe piercings and is closely regulated by our trained staff of piercing nurses. It uses sterile, single-use cartridges with hygienically sealed earrings designed to promote optimal healing and comfort.
Who Is Eligible for Tandem Piercing?
Our piercing nurses can perform tandem piercings for anyone who can sit still independently and feel comfortable in the piercing chair.
It is not recommended for infants or very young children who need someone to hold their head still. Because two piercing nurses are focused on working simultaneously on both sides, an adult’s hand in the ear area can interfere with safe positioning and technique.
If you’re uncertain about eligibility for a tandem service, your local Rowan studio will happily assess and advise.
When Can Tandem Piercings Be Performed?
Tandem piercings require two piercing nurses to be available at the same time. Because of this, they are not always offered on weekends and holidays, which tend to be our busiest times.
If you think a tandem piercing might be right for you or your child, reach out directly to your local Rowan studio. Our team will check availability and confirm if we can accommodate your request.
At Rowan, every piercing is performed with expert hands, thoughtful technique, and attentive aftercare guidance to make your experience confident and memorable.
