Which Earring Is Best for Me? Our Piercing Placement Recommendation by Ear Anatomy
What’s My Ear Type?
A little known fun fact? No two ears are the same! But there are a few different types of ears which are categorized by their anatomy.
Piercing placement comes down to your unique anatomy and preference. At Rowan, we’re experts in making styling recommendations based on your specific ear anatomy and love working with you to create your perfect ear stack!
Square Ear
For a square ear, we love to recommend helix piercings as they emphasize the angular upper ear. I love to create a three stud helix by pairing our 14K Mini Lightning Bolt Flat Back, 14k Diamond Crescent Flat Back Stud, and 14k Ball Trinity Flat Back Stud.
Pointed Ear
The pointed ear really accentuates helix and flat piercings. Get elaborate with your upper ear stack! We love styling drop earrings like our 14K Opal Drop Flat Back Stud in the flat with an 8mm Endless Hoop in the helix.
Narrow Ear
The narrow ear has more lobe space to work with, making it great for a super-stacked lobe! I’ve seen a narrow ear with 5 lobe piercings! I love to style a narrow ear with multiple dainty earrings like our 14K Gold Trinity Opal Flat Back Stud, 4mm Basic Bezel Studs, 14K 3mm Ball Flat Back Stud, and 14K Classic Hoops.
Round Ear
With a round ear, there’s a lot of upper space. We love a double piercing in the mid and/or upper helix and recommend an endless hoop stack!
Broad Ear
A broad ear has so much potential for beautiful constellation piercings because the ear has a wider area to work with. To style a constellation piercing, a stud stack is recommended. A conch looks great on a broad ear as well! Try a bold earring like our 14K Classic Pearl Stud in the conch placement.
Attached Earlobe Ear
For those with attached earlobes, embrace the lobe!! Get unconventional with your lobe stacks. Try pairing a variety of hoops like our 25mm CZ Hoops, 12mm Essential Hoops and Double Take Hoops.
